Are you curious about your body as wild and innately wise? Perhaps you want to know more about living around the cycles of nature? Are you curious about trying yoga but have always felt it’s not for you?
Weekly Trauma-aware Yoga Classes
Start your day with embodiment and presence – Join me for hatha slow flow classes at Prana House, Thornbury. More details here.
I teach weekly trauma-aware hatha yoga classes that focus on exploration more than experience. A slow-paced class that incorporates all 8 Limbs of Yoga including asana (physical shapes), pranayama (breathwork) and dhyana (meditation) to support you to connect with your body, breath and heart. My classes focus on flowing with the seasons and my passion for cyclical living. I draw on my background working in the community and mental health sectors as a social worker and counsellor. My lived experience of anxiety and neurodivergence, 200hr Hatha YTT in India and studies in applied polyvagal theory for yoga, trauma informed and accessible yoga underpin each of my classes.
The intention of my classes is to create a space where you can slow down, allowing space to cultivate self-awareness and connection in a nurturing environment open to all ages, abilities, and experience levels. I take an approach of no wrong way of practicing yoga – it is just that, a practice. There is no such thing as “being good at yoga” or “not flexible enough”. Yoga means “unity” and is a practice of connection, self compassion and presence to whatever is. It is not about judgement, comparison or hierarchy. You are complete and whole as you are.
I seek to honour the traditional roots of yoga from a Hatha perspective. I see the individual as a (dis)connected part of a greater system and I am committed to decolonising my practice and the yoga I teach. I acknowledge I am always learning and ever awakening to the ways in which the intersectionalities of the lives of people attending my classes may pose barriers to them fully participating or attending. You are welcome as you are.

Embodied Yoga for Stress and Anxiety Course
A 4 week yoga series focusing on embodied practices to support your nervous system. I draw on my experience as a counsellor and yoga teacher to marry modern neuroscience with traditional yoga. This slow-paced hatha class will focus on movement (asana), breath (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana) to support nervous system regulation, reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety and teach practical tools for self-care, suitable for all experience levels.
You will learn:
- Grounding tools
- Easy to use breathing techniques
- Short movement and mindfulness practices to use throughout your day
- A sprinkling of neuroscience balanced with traditional yoga teachings
- How to support your nervous system to prevent and reduce stress and anxiety.
You will experience:
- Reduced physical and mental tension through the use of embodied, mindful movement and pranayama
- Improved sleep
- Improved mood
- Feeling empowered
- Feeling grounded and present
- Increased self awareness and self-compassion
I honour yoga as a practice of devotion and abundance rather than coming from a place of scarcity and needing to be more …. more flexible, stronger, fitter, more ….; a decolonised practice that acknowledges the importance of healing the community. This is why I am offering this series – I know the power and benefit of yoga for helping to slow down, regulate our nervous systems and to feel more grounded and present. The importance of presence, grounding and connection to our hearts cannot be underestimated, particularly in times of change, both personally and collectively.

I have been working with Ange online in group prenatal yoga classes, through the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of my pregnancy. I have found a beautiful little pocket of weekly calm, support and empowerment that as absolutely benefitted my physical and mental health during the journey to motherhood. The classes are paced wit ha relaxed flow, giving us time to sink into poses, breathwork and meditation while always being encouraged to listen to our own bodies as we go. – Ciara – Participant
